Movement In Kingston (2023) was my first attempt at a documentary style of film. I was given the word 'Portrait' as a prompt. This could be a portrait of a person or place. I initially wanted to do a documentary strictly on Eadweard Muybridge, a famous photographer from my hometown; Kingston Upon Thames. Once I realised it would be difficult to do a topic as deep as Muybridge's history with how short the film was supposed to be, I instead looked to creating a portrait of Kingston Upon Thames. I was inspired by Kingston's recent appreciation of Muybridge and how the local museum and library were trying to push his influence to residents and students alike. I decided to interview one of the people involved with Kingston Museum and Kingston history centre. I also experimented with time lapses, long exposure and shutter speed with the Canon EOS C70 to try and replicate a style of Muybridge's photography.
